British and American literature

Annotation: The aim of the course is to introduce participants to the development and main representatives of British and American literature. The first part of the course will focus on British literature, from the Middle Ages to the present. We will be introduced to the works of classic authors such as Shakespeare, Dickens, Austen and Orwell, as well as modern and postmodern literature. The second part of the course will be devoted to American literature. We will explore its origins in the colonial period, but also its development in the 19th and 20th centuries. We will become familiar with the works of authors such as Twain, Hemingway, but also, for example, Asimov and Harper Lee. Each seminar will include a discussion of a reading that participants will read in advance-it will be an excerpt or short story on the topic. Stories will be submitted electronically through CCV. The course will be open with a minimum of 20 people.
